Fireside readings
Three small lights
for the road ahead.
These original readings are not instructions, treatment, or promises about how recovery should feel. Take what is useful. Let the rest remain beside the fire.

Hope when hope feels small
The ember
We sometimes imagine hope as a sunrise—bright enough to change the whole landscape at once. But most hope does not arrive that way.
Sometimes it is only an ember: the call we almost did not make, the chair we sat in without speaking, the meal we managed to eat, the hour we decided to stay.
An ember does not look like much from across the room. Up close, it is still carrying fire. Protect the small warm thing. It does not have to light tomorrow. It only has to survive tonight.

Letting another person believe for us
Borrowed light
There are days when we cannot see ourselves clearly. On those days, another person may hold the lantern.
They do not walk the road for us. They do not deny the dark. They simply stand near enough to say: I can still see you. Take the next step toward my voice.
Borrowed light is not weakness. It is one of the oldest ways people find their way home. Someday, without keeping score, we may carry that light for someone else.

Beginning again without erasing what happened
Room after winter
Beginning again does not require pretending the winter never came. The branches remember. So do we.
What changes is not the truth of what happened, but what we decide can grow beside it. A repaired conversation. A kept promise. A morning with fewer lies in it.
Forgiveness may begin as nothing more dramatic than making room for one honest green thing. We do not force it open. We tend the ground, and we let the season change at its own pace.
